My mama would make her famous caramel corn around this time every fall. There were fights in our family when she made this. And when she would post that she was making it on her Facebook page, she would get swamped with messages and comments from townspeople asking if she has any extra. Ha!
I’ve shared this recipe on here before, but thought I’d share it again! I’d also love to hear about your family’s favorite fall foods. Is there anything I’d die to taste? If so, share it!
Mama’s Caramel Corn Recipe
Set oven to 250*
Ingredients:
7 quarts popped corn
2 cups light brown sugar
2 sticks butter
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 c white syrup (like Karo)
1 tsp baking soda
Steps:
- Boil the sugar, butter, cream of tartar, and syrup together for 5 minutes. Remove from stove and then mix in the baking soda.
- Pour over the popped corn. Stir until well-coated.
- Bake at 250* for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
Do you know who I can see making this? Max’s mom, Fern, in The Perception. That’s probably because Fern is my mom’s middle name and that character was based on my mother. ๐
If you haven’t met Max Quinn yet, you should. He’s on Amazon, free in KU, and on Audible. Yay!
